Venue and Accommodation 2009
AYC'09 will be held in Sydney, at the John Clancy Auditorium, The University of NSW (UNSW), Anzac Parade, Kensington.
UNSW is located in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, located near the business hub of Australia's largest city and easily accessible from the city and the many nearby seaside suburbs.

Transport to UNSW
From Sydney Kingsford Smith Domestic Airport to the city:
The easiest public transport from the airport to the city is via Airport Link train which will take you to the City Circle Stations (Central, Town Hall, Wynyard, Circular Quay, St James, and Museum stations) every 10min and will take only 13 minutes to Central Station ($13.20 one way). The domestic rail station is between T2 and T3 terminals. Tickets can be purchased at the terminal.

From City to Sydney Kingsford Smith Domestic Airport:
You can catch the Airport Link train from the City Circle Stations (as above) to the Domestic Airport terminal. All airport services depart from platform 23 at Central Station.

Between city and UNSW:

Transport from the City, Central Station:
You can catch the 891 from Eddy Ave, Central which is an express bus to the university. Other buses that can be taken from central include the 393,395,391. To catch the bus to central, it is 895 express from the uni or 393,395,391.

Accommodation

Onsite accommodation:
In-house accommodation for AYC'09 will be at the Kensington Colleges, only a short walk to John Clancy (conference venue). All rooms are single rooms with a single bed, built-in cupboard, drawers, wall heater, study desk, shelves, chair, desk light and telephone for receiving calls. Included are pillow, blanket, doona, bed linen and towel. Bathrooms are shared. Other share facilites include a common room, kitchenette and coin-operated washing machines and dryers, iron, ironing boards and clothesline. There are also food and drink vending machines available.

Each resident is assigned a room key and swipe card. Delegate’s liability to lost keys and swipe cards:
  • Broken swipe cards are replaced at no charge.  Lost swipe cards incur a $11 charge.
  • Lost keys incur a $125 charge (as they change the door lock each time this occurs).
No breakfast will be served at the Kensington Colleges. Meal venues as stated in the program.

Security policy: "The Kensington Colleges are patrolled by a Security Guard during the evenings 7 nights a week. All college buildings are protected by a card activated lock system and automatic external door closure. To maintain security we ask that card activated doors are never left ajar, and that residents do not permit others to use their card at any time. Residents must keep their room door locked at all times."
